Parkside People and Prayer

Parkside People and Prayer

Initially, all good ministry is about a group of people praying to God to enable them to love and serve others in a specific way. This is really a good idea when you think about how much good you can accomplish apart from Jesus (nothing!!). Prayer is vital because it is both the means to what we called to and the end for which we called as well. So, here are a few pictures of the people of the Parkside project and some ways you can pray with us.

One of our last official events as ChristChurch Presbyterian members -- out to Mexican while the church teenagers babysat.  We are thankful for the wonderful support and friendships of the ChristChurch family.  Prayer request: For Trent, Emily and our daughters for the personal aspect of this transition.

Walking and praying on the Beltline (http://beltline.org) with Alicia and Dan DeCrisio.  On our walk we passed million dollar (plus) homes and a few guys with all their worldly possessions piled under a bridge.  Midtown is an incredible intersection of people from all walks of life.   How will the church (universal) bring the hope of Christ to this area? Prayer request: For the resources and insights to begin this ministry well.

Grabbing a burger in Virginia-Highland with Dan and Alicia.  The DeCrisios lead a "Missional Community Group" at their home across from Piedmont Park and will be instrumental in planting the Parkside church.  Prayer request: For the "Missional Communities" to grow, prosper, and multiply.

Thanks so much to all who support us with friendship, prayer, and giving. We will keep you posted on how the Lord answers our prayers as we begin this new ministry. Let us know if you are interested in joining us for a prayer walk in the "Parkside" area.

More Prayer requests
1.     We are moving, starting July 15th into a rental home in the Morningside neighborhood. Please pray for the move to go smoothly and that we make a good first impression on our neighbors.
2.     Our number one priority right now is support raising. We have received about 30% of our first year of support in pledges or gifts. Please pray for God’s grace and provision so that we can reach our goal soon.
3.     This time of transition is both exciting and tough on our family. Please pray for God’s grace to find us when we need it most.

New resources for ministry

Parkside Journals and  Parkside Mission INC Parkside Journals is the new website for Emily's ongoing development of resources to help you connect neighbors to a better knowledge of God and his word.  The heartbeat of our mission remains the same, bringing the truth and love of Christ to neighborhoods through creating resources and training leaders. Much of this ministry is done in partnership with the church planting mission, Dunwoody Presbyterian Church. Parkside Mission is funded completely by the donations of individuals and churches that partner with this ministry. Thanks, Trent and Emily McEntyre

Living on mission during transition - support material - seasons of life

When I began preparing for these talks I immediately thought of some the insights I heard from David English. Here is a background essay on the seasons of life we all go through.    I was in my early 40’s and something was happening to me emotionally. For twenty years I had been involved in Christian ministry and loved what I was doing. College students were a joy to me and I had worked with them in various positions of responsibility locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. I had a wonderful wife and four beautiful children. Outwardly everything seemed to be going great. But inwardly something was wrong. Something was missing. It was the same feeling that I had before I had become a Christian at age 19. Emotionally life was not making sense and I felt that it should because, after all, I had committed my life to Christ and I was serving Him with all my heart. There were two circumstances that I was faced with that added to my confusion. Campus Crusade was in the m...
